BYU will NEVER have a 'high ranking recruiting class' because of WHO it recruits.

Here are some simple facts:

5 * kids are going to go to the top 4-5 schools (we are not on that list)
There are very few 3 - 4 * LDS kids.
There are even fewer 3 - 4 * Non-LDS kids that would even consider BYU
There are very few 3 -4 * kids that can handle BYU academically.
There are very few football players in general that can live the HC

Also...

~70% of kids BYU recruits plan on serving a mission.
* rankings are based on the now... not 2 - 3 years later.
