Utah is 14th in the nation at putting High School kids into D1 programs (that's higher than Texas & California). Its also #1 in the west.

When you add in NV, ID and a few of the other areas (CA) with a large LDS population... and you have a good collection of LDS players.
Then you have to factor in how Kalani is going after non-LDS players. BYU has an amazing reputation as a school and it's also IMPOSSIBLE to get into. The current coaches are using this as a strong selling point for non lds kids. Take a look at the last 1.5 years of kids signing with BYU and you will see an upswing in non LDS players.
On official visits non LDS (and LDS) parents and kids get to sit down with current non LDS players and ask 'Why are you playing for BYU?'. They also get a full rundown of the honor code (and are free to ask the players about that as well). After meeting with the heads of different departments and hearing about the network/contacts players leave BYU with... Most parents sold.
Its funny to laugh when people say BYU is equal to Stanford, but it's not far off. And its a sales pitch most schools don't have.
Then you have the fan base... What G5 school (and even most P5) players get to play in front of 65K fans at home. Even this year we had higher attendance than most P5 schools. We also have thousands of fans show up at away games.
BYU should be able to hang with the top G5 lower P5 schools for years to come.
