You've only had 3 post-Lavell coaches, so it's not a very big sample size, but Crowton's recruiting classes were way worse than Bronco's (on Rivals: 2002- 99th; 2003- <100; 2004- 79th). Kalani seems right in line with Bronco, so far (he'll be worse this year because of the bad season, but last year was almost exactly in line with Bronco's post-independence recruiting). It may be that Bronco was a solid recruiter but that 60s is the best BYU can do in the modern football landscape, barring some unusual circumstance like a NY6 game or a superstar LDS QB who grew up a BYU fan and really wants to play at BYU, regardless of offers (like Heaps, except... you know... good).
