I never get that. I know a few people in my wider circles

that got pretty worthless grad degrees and a couple hundred thousand in debt and are struggling....but I'm always like.....wasn't there somebody in their close circles that could have stepped in and given them a reality check when they were about to go down that path? Not a significant other/mom/dad/sibling/grandparent/friend? Nothing? I would ditch my friends if that was me.
