absolutely skyrocketed. I left school with around 300k in debt, which was exorbitant at the time, but my school has nearly doubled tuition in the last 10 years to U$C type levels. The other thing that people don't realize, is that in dentistry you'll never make good money unless you buy your own practice. That adds anther 500k-1 milllion in debt. It's just too much to be sustainable. I'm lucky I'm finally going to pay off my practice debt this year and have my student loans paid off in four years. I'll be debt free, besides my mortgage, before I'm 40 but no way my kids will be able to do that.
