Sure, Sitake "took responsibility" after complaining about things like his
offense throwing the ball too much in a loss (i.e. UMass), acting like a disgruntled fan with no power to change anything other than to not buy a ticket to the game, pretending that he wasn't part of the game planning, that he was powerless to communicate with his staff and tell his offense to run the ball more . . . then after ranting and so disloyally throwing those in the battle with him under the bus . . . would add a little footnote like: and yeah, I guess I'm the head coach so I need to fix it.

Sitake not only lost last year, he did so in a very disgraceful way by pointing fingers. That caused him to lose fan support more than his poor record. His players gave up on him. It was evident to the most casual observer. His defense looked like a sieve vs. one of the worst teams in the country - ECU - and his players acted collectively like they couldn't give a rip.
That's a reflection on the head coach. It's too bad he hasn't figured out how to manage players, coaches, administration and a program.
