Perhaps you might want to check into what head coaches are responsible for @ BYU
I remember Coach Edwards speaking on essentially being a Bishop for 105 student athletes. He wasn't called as such "referring to the team" but dealt on a daily basis with athletes and their spiritual trials.
There are great people of all faiths, but BYU is a unique place until such time that the Church decides to get out of the education business. That's the answer! The Church can dump BYU, BYU Idaho, BYU Hawaii...no more honor code, no more requirement for the head coach to be LDS. Or, instead of dumping the schools just dump sports. It would save me a lot of money if they.

I'd like to see BYU drop the requirement that the HC be LDS. I get that they need someone that can understand LDS but
