As individual programs, I believe most of college football respects them as if they were mid- to lower tier P5s. But because of the number of weaklings on their schedules they don't respect them enough to give them the credit they would otherwise deserve. And that would still exist to a certain degree no matter what. But its harder not to give them credit if they're all playing each other and not just stockpiling wins against the sisters of the poor.
