RE: We obviously have to win
then grow to 50,000-60,000 students

This is something that bothers me, as an alum too. BYU-I and BYU Hawaii are not good enough for spill-over students. I know for a fact the Admin at BYU, through three presidents have halted growth. Both in number of students, sq ft of the campus, and research/educational outlets. All signs point to the BoT want BYU to be a mix of a 'Mormon' think tank + EFY for co-eds. Remember, BYU has one of the smallest graduate student bodies in the nation when compared to undergrad enrollment. Plus, professors that both teach and research regularly (a requirement for all faculty) is nearly unheard of elsewhere.

I'm no General Authority. So I dont understand why there is this constant restraint on the school, in pretty much every facet. I do believe they are inspired men. I also firmly believe God puts us in positions with a lot of our personal preferences as part of the package. When CBers try to devise a possible lack of support for the football program from higher up, I'm not surprised. It's not that they hate football, its a systematic mentality for BYU as a whole.

The head coach position is nothing I would wish upon anyone.

Fun fact, if BYU had kept it's mantra as a flagship university for LDS youth (see 1970s BYU), it's enrollment would be 210,000 in 2010.
