First of all, I need to see that a 1 loss BYU team given the current schedule would consistently get relegated to a lower tear bowl for this to really bother me. If we are a top 15 team and end up playing in the great potato bowl on blue turf then I'd be more inclined to give credence to this. I realize the books say one thing but money talks and top teams make money. Big bowls would want a higher ranked team that always brings eyes along with it.
Second, only BSU has been able to be a consistent nonP5 contender. Most others are just a flash in the pan because they just happened to have the right Sr. Players, with a decent P5 win in their schedule and a good coach who is more than likely being poached by a P5 next season.
Thus, you are just a feeder program for the P5s always in transition... and that is the top best case scenario pinnacle. This is not what I want for our program. From what I can see, the only non P5 school to repeat an appearance is BSU... most of that is Chris Peterson not leaving for so long...
