Somewhere in those last 30 years it became cool to be a nerd or a dork...
Well at least pop culture has tried to make that be the case. I read comic booms growing up, and I read sci fi and fantasy as well, but it didn’t define me like so many seem to be defined by it now. I still played sports, went hunting, fishing, and camping, road motorcycles and bmx bikes, built a still in my buddies basement to try and make moonshine, snuck out went egging late at night in the summer and snowballing in the winter. Snuck out to meet up with girls who also snuck out to makeout. Went joy riding with my buddies in a neighbors truck that started without a key. I collected record albums and played the guitar.

And when I felt like staying home I read a comic book or a regular book, or listened to my records. I went to the movies but I did it to be entertained and not as a life event.

I don’t get it either. I mean to each their own but 32 year old fat dudes larping in the park just seems to be taking things a bit far. Waiting for the next superhero movie to come out as if it is a major event in life is also something I don’t really get. It is like so many seem to be locked into a never ending childhood and simply can’t let their childhood go. I loved be ping a kid as much as the next guy but there came a point where being an adult, and doing things adults do, became more appealing.
