Nope (at least in Utah). Law requires 120 hours of classroom (or on-line) education. I spent over two weeks, over eight hours per day sitting with my laptop and going through the on-line course before I could take the exam. I did pass the exam on the first try. Luckily, right after passing the exam I got a job in municipal real estate which didn't require a license, so I didn't have to actually obtain and pay for a license. But I would have had to get that license if I were to have been hired as a "consultant" or be part of the agent pool to represent UDOT, UTA, etc.
So, I guess I'm saying....it's not nearly as quick and easy as you seem to believe it is. I will acknowledge it isn't terribly difficult, but many also don't pass the test on the first one or two tries.
