If the AD had worked with the school president (as Utah’s AD did) and established relationships with members of the PAC-10, learning their objections and making changes, it could have been a very different atmosphere. Look at where we are today. Wording has been changed in the Honor Code and we have had a gay speaker at Commencement. What if those things had happened 15 years ago? What if BYU had listened and made steps to show their sensitivities to the PAC schools. Remember some of the connections President Hinckley made?
