That only lines up if you're positive that BYU's minimum requirement truly
reflects what you "need" to have in order to not totally bomb everything once you're in college. I doubt that's the case. HS can be pretty easy. Some kids get to college and just get lazy. They think football is their life and they don't have to do anything. If you can get into BYU as a student athlete, you're not flunking out because you're not capable of better. I think it's exaggerating to think that letting a few more guys in means they're just going to fail.
It's not fair to judge future recruits on what a few lazy players could or couldn't get done.
