I have heard one of the OL from the 1984 championship team say that many of the

players on the 84 team would have been removed from the school if the Honor Code would have been managed back then the way it is today.  Apparently it was handled differently in the 1980's under Lavell.  We all know that Jim McMahon would have struggled with today's version of the Honor Code however he played four successful years at BYU, notwithstanding controversy, but he was allowed to continue school and athletics.

I am NOT saying to get rid of the Honor Code.  All I am saying is to allow it to help kids as they navigate their way through the college years.  Repentance is a huge part of this life. Harvey, Brandon and Jamaal were immediately suspended from school rather than allowing the HC to work in their life as they continued their school lives. Have the HC impact a persons spiritual life and Not their academic or athletic life.
