few things about how the university interacts with the athletic department will not make BYU cease to be BYU. Almost all of those things you listed are either not even close to being true as far as desires by fans, or simply carry no relevance in the athletic department changing why BYU is BYU. What a load of poop.

LDS head coach? Make a great argument for having this be the rule, especially when it's only for football and basketball. Talk about inconsistent. You better have a talk with the people you think are doing things so perfectly and ask why it's not consistent.

Redirecting church resources? What in the world are you talking about? The church doesn't need to have anything at all to do with the athletic department. What, did the one person out there who joked that the church itself should spend money on football get you on this? The only thing people are asking is that the university lets the athletic department run itself. Let them spend and invest their own money. Do you have an argument against that? How would it affect the uniqueness of BYU?

Get rid of the honor code? Most people don't want that. They simply want it maybe updated a bit, and mostly they want the enforcement of the HC changed, and to let the athletic programs deal with things the way they let Lavell do it. Or do you have a problem with Lavell?

Sure academics might affect things a tiny bit, though changes don't have to be drastic. There's still an issue with admissions overall. Why can a kid need a certain class and BYU just shuns him, while a program like Cal works with him and says ok lets figure this out and get you in. Nobody is asking them to turn into Boise State. But they can tweak some things a bit.
