But IMO, it would take elite coaching to get there. I think Bronco's performance here is about the highest we will see from BYU in today's landscape. The right coach might be able to squeeze out a bit more, but it really is a tall order. I also do not think we will get top P5 level talent at BYU, it's going to be closer to top G5, lower P5. We may get some players of that caliber (Ty'Son, etc), but not across the board (especially equivalent top P5 depth), at least not right now. Also, BYU does not put the same money into athletics that P5 schools do, nor do they have $$$ benefits that P5 schools get in their conferences. That's a factor for sure.
I don't think we need LSU recruits or talent to beat Utah. Honestly, BYU should have never lost the 2018 game to Utah, and has been easily within striking distance in other games against them. Beating Utah is certainly doable with the talent BYU can get.
