I'd been working there for a couple of years when they told us all that they would be doing background checks on all the staff - had us get fingerprinted and everything. Whatever, I didn't have a record and wasn't worried about it. And, to be quite honest, it kind of made sense. We're talking about people who ended up spending a LOT of time alone with kids for a variety of reasons. I had one kid I drove from Tooele to Logan once, another I drove to Provo. I had co-workers who took kids to Vernal, etc.

Anyway - there was a relatively new guy in the office. He'd only been there 6 weeks or so when we got notice that they would be doing background checks on all staff. A couple of days before we were all supposed to be fingerprinted he sends this epic email to everyone. And I don't just mean everyone in my office - I mean EVERYONE IN THE ORGANIZATION. I'll bet there are 1000 staff or more who work for DCFS in Utah. Easy. His email went to all of them.

He basically said he was resigning and wouldn't be in the next day. The job was too stressful - he was losing hair, it was effecting his sleep and sex life (yes, really). He went on this rant about how the job was too hard with too many expectations, too much stress from making decisions, not enough support, etc. And he never showed up in the office again.

About a month later one of my co-workers went to the fair and saw him at a booth selling hemp products.
