store. Because of mission preparations and other life issues, things were really hectic at that point in time.
In any event, a new large business had opened up a facility in our town, and my dad, with some of my help, had been working the buyer to become their primary office products supplier. One day, my dad, who had several business locations, could not pass by that large potential client on this particular day, so he asked me if I would do pass by. My plan was to pass by just after lunch time, but just before noon, the primary buyer called me to place a small order. During the conversation, the buyer said not to deliver the items until the next day, because she was not feeling well and was going home for the rest of the day.
I finished my work day and went out for the evening with my friends. When I returned that evening, my mom was upset with me, because my dad had called and told her to tell me that I was fired because I did not pass by that large potential account. I let out an audible "Oh, brother!" and started shaking my head. I related to my mother what had happened, and she in turn became quite upset with my dad. She offered to call him and explain things, but I said I would rather have the time off and to not do anything.
My dad called my mom the next day to follow up, and she kind of laid into him for his rash judgment. He told her I could come back to work, and she told him that, in no uncertain terms, that he would take me back, and that it would be in a week's time.
He did apologize to me later, and I got a nice needed break for which he decided to pay me for the time I would have normally worked.
