sure if that happened with him or if some of it was mental due to a lot of things happening in his life or if some of it was the reality of getting hit by D1 players versus being practically untouched in HS; it may have been a little of everything.
I think a lot of things go into it. I do know this; I am close to a player who was on that team and he told me that Riley was the better QB in practice and that nearly every player on the team agreed. Jake may have had a better arm, but Riley was just better and should have been the starter from day 1 that season.
Stuff just happens, recruiting hype isn't always accurate. A 3 or 5 star rating is typically determined when a guy is a JR in HS and does not account for growth and progress over the next 3-5 years.....not does it account for how close a player is to a plateau.
