Obviously this is much more of an indication of the parents than anything else.
Sounds like you did great and did your best. The only difference is I would have set expectations with all orients early on.
My kid’s third grade coach was very upfront about all of this stuff at the beginning of the season and basically let every parent know that:
1- The batting rotation would be continuous the whole season
2- Every kid would have every chance at every position
3- The expectation is that parents should be practicing with their kid at home
And many more. They just laid it all out early which I thought was a great idea. And the coach also asked all parents that if they wanted to help that they could use any and all help.
