I got sucked in exactly the same way you did. I learned to send a long email to parents at beginning of year setting expectations. My experience level, my attitude toward the game, how I would handle positions and pitching etc. Also an invitation to parents to come help coach at practices. it didn't solve all problems but solved most of them.
