I coached for 18 years, I can check all those boxes minus the last comment
I was paid for a couple of those years and so I probably was accused of it and it might have been true lol

I haven't coached for a couple years, and it is something I have been considering getting back into, but it seems a little weird nowadays to have some old guy that isn't related to one of the kids being the coach, that was totally normal back when I was a kid, but just doesn't seem like you see that as much nowadays.

I can say, I had much more enjoyable coaching experiences in my non-paid positions, when you are getting paid, even if it isn't much, those parents have some pretty high expectations and feel like you should hear every complaint.

There is a lot of crap coaches put up with, but there is also a lot of satisfaction in bringing kids together, and providing positive experiences for them, I could list as many really outstanding positive moments as I could negatives, and the positives seem to linger longer with me, especially when you hear from some of the kids years later, I was a father figure to some kids that needed it, and they keep me updated on their lives even many years later through social media, but all things considered, coaching is generally a net positive for me, and seeing mobomanjoes experience being so negative makes me sad, we need more people in this world willing to try to help and less complainers that do little more than complain from the sidelines.
