I can absolutely love a hamburger, but still choose a Del Frisco's filet if given the choice. I can't afford a $70 Del Frisco's steak very frequently, and so I love to eat a good brisket...very frequently.

Not ruined if you smoke it to 115-120, reverse sear it until medium rare, and then top it with black pepper sauce.

A good rub tends to complement the beef flavor, while a bbq sauce tends to overpower it IMO.
