I chuckled because my wife said the same thing at the time..

10 years later and when I was actually in it she had no clue or understanding of what it truly entailed.. it turned out to be a lot harder to live with someone working a time/stress/call extensive specialty than I think she realized.. also when I said I’m done or at least cutting back my production the realization of the income shift can be an eye opener for them 🙂

So I take the make sure the wife is on board with a grain of salt as it’s hard for them to truly know what that really means.. but obviously just my experience - though out of the people I know in my specialty I would venture to say the majority don’t have an easy going marriage

Though with that said there is still a lot of variation in actual real world jobs so even tougher specialties can have some easier gigs.
