At 35 I probably would have taken the money and prestige

At 45 my perspective is different. I don't value the same things in the same way. I better understand the saying that "youth is wasted on the young". At 45 I would be a hard pass on crazy hours and prestige. Both are very fickle and have almost no lasting benefit.
