I have seen the statistical analysis performed 3-4 times over the past 20 years
It is the same result every time, star rankings are pretty good indicators of future success and matter a lot.
BYU has long outperformed its recruiting ranking, so BYU fans tend to think we are an exception to the rule and that our 3 star players are all going to the NFL, but the reality is that for the football program to become a consistent top 25 program, they need to start having recruiting classes like Utah does in the 30's, not the 60's where we have been for several years.
