Byu is Notorious for expecting people to do more with less, pay under market value, etc. we’ve seen some decent steps with locker rooms scoreboards etc but our pay for assistants, and support staff is crap compared to other schools. Look No further than our recruiting offices. We have jack damuni, and that’s about it. Other schools have 6-8 guys, interns, assistants, and people in charge of social media. Over on 247 you often hear in interviews with recruits that they don’t get as much love from byu (edits, calls, texts, etc). Our coaches have to do way more recruiting than the average d1 coach because we have one or two recruiters. Most schools have like 8 including USU. stretches our coaches thin and I’m sure they’re sick of it.
Insider or not this post makes sense and is very byu-esque to not give enough resources and try to cheap out on positions and salary etc and not keep up with the big boys. This recruiting class could be one of our best ever, or it could be an awful class if we lose Kalani. It will be interesting to see if the school recognizes importance of things like that.
