There are plenty of decent cars for $5k. Of course they will have higher mileage
But due diligence and you can get a good running vehicle that will last you a few years.
My truck has 170k miles, my car has 120k and i sold my Honda with over 200k.
A reliable car these days doesn't need to have 70k miles or less.
I'm just saying this is the route I would go if it were that tight for me.

Naw, I got my son's Hyundai for 8k just recently, under 100k miles. This family could cut a lot more.
