What do you think it means to work hard to lift your family higher than the last generation?
How do you think the people earning $100K got to that point?
Very few people are so disadvantaged it can't be done. In fact, many skilled labor jobs or even sales jobs can earn a very good wage without college or through local technical programs. Even if they wanted college, there are many ways to do that w/ all the financial aid available through smaller schools.
Most simply need a belief and some mentoring to show them the path.

Naw, I got my son's Hyundai for 8k just recently, under 100k miles. This family could cut a lot more.
