Not really the same.

BYU is making a major jump from independent to a big conference, where they will only have 3-4 elective games they can schedule. BYU was forced to cancel many games and it was a choice of which ones. Tennessee was not having a big change like that. They were solely cancelling to try to net a few million dollars more and have an easier game.

It's not "plain wrong". Contracts have buyouts. If you pay the buyout, you fulfill the contract. That's not plain wrong
