I am not disagreeing with you when looking at the issue case by case
But if it happens too often, the golden goose could start to be endangered. I realize it would have to happen a lot to endanger or really harm CFB, but that is the distinction being made. But you do appear to be really rigid here.

Let me ask you a question. Let's say you got a buyer for your house and you are in contract to sell. You also go into contract to buy another house, and the closing on your purchase is contingent upon the closing of your sale. Let's say you only got a deposit of $1,000 so far from the buyers and they are scheduled to dump another $10,000 deposit. Before they do so as both of your transactions are nearing a close, your buyer backs out and says "keep the $1,000", but we have found another house that is a much better deal for us. Assume they could validly back out under the circumstance. How are you feeling now? Your buyer did nothing wrong. Are you going to have the attitude of "good for them, they made a wise business decision by backing out on us, with them only owing what they have deposited so far, leaving me with nothing to be upset about"? They just blew up your sale, and in the process made it so you can now not close on the property you were in contract to purchase.

You can at least see how someone in that situation would be ticked off even though the person "did nothing wrong" from a legal standpoint. Now imagine that sort of thing started happening more and more than it does, leaving more people ticked off. No one is doing anything wrong, but it causes a lot of financial mayhem and destruction in the lives of the losers who do not "win" based on the person's decision to back out.
