A company I worked for took a couple of Devmountain developers...
1 was super good at what she did... she was awesome. She produced some of the most reliable code ever, even over some of the College Graduated developers.
Mind you, there was another DevMountain girl as well and she wasn't terrible... but she was L A Z Y!
But right now, with layoffs happening in some places, unless your in a good market area like Dallas, it will be tough to get a good job without a degree of some kind.

Why not take some computer programming classes in college before he makes a quick decision that he may regret later.
