Typically, when a self-taught software engineer makes it through tech screening

and into an interview, they fail the interview but don’t know it. The interviewer realizes their limits when they try to solve the real puzzle, and offers a new soft ball that they can solve to save face and keep glass door ratings high.

Good interview experience—> feels confident —> Rejection letter —> total confusion.
