If you're in SL County, the library has free resources to learn.
I signed up long time ago just for fun to see what was available. Best bet would be to go physically to the library and have them walk you through the resources.

Just scanning through, it looks like Fiero Code is a coding one, but likely more. If you're not SL County, still probably have resources at your library. It's at least enough to get an idea if he truly likes it.

Why not take some computer programming classes in college before he makes a quick decision that he may regret later.
