BYU and Utah
Whenever I see someone who is a Utah fan come to this board and run some weak smack all I can think is they are pretty insecure in their own position.

First, good for Utah in getting an invitation to the PAC12. It has become such a big deal that they talk more about the conference than their own teams. That might be because their football team has endured two years of mediocrity in the PAC12 and their basketball program has basically disappeared. So redute feels compelled to come over here and comment about BYU.

A few years ago when Utah had won the MWC in football and basketball they became full of themselves and proudly stated how they would dominate the league for the rest of time. I said then, and still stand by the statement, that college athletics are cyclical. You will have good years and bad years. Utah will win some games and BYU will win some games in the rivalry. Since that high mark in basketball (Bogut was the driver) BYU has dominated Utah in basketball. Utah has had the edge on BYU in football but a significant number of the games have been single digit wins. A break here or a correct call there and BYU could have just as easily won several more of them. But they did not and that is the fact. I am sure that Utah will eventually be more competitive in basketball and BYU will be stronger in football. That is the cyclical nature of the sport.

But I don't see Utah ever becoming a dominant player in the PAC12. They are not going to out recruit USC, UCLA or even Washington. Oregon and Stanford will out recruit them. They will get, as they have in the past, some players who were recruited but not offered by the bigger west coast schools or the ones that are offered but see themselves stacked behind more talent. High school kids are very confident and they want to play right away.

Sot to redute the question I have to ask of someone, probably a freshman or sophomore at Utah who got rejected by BYU, who would come to their rivals board and run smack is simple: What is so lacking in Utah sports that you have to resort to denigrating someone else to make yourself feel good?
