I am no Marxist. Universities do research purely to gain knowledge, often it is non-profitable by itself and never would happen without government providing the "seed money" as you put it. In our capitalist society business comes in and finds a way to make that research usable and profitable. That is why this country is great. Research done with public dollars becomes part of the public domain, making it free to use by any.

I have a feeling that you have no idea what a Marxist really is, but considering your posting history it realy shouldn't surprise me.
