i address that in my first reply when i clearly state that in an ideal world we
wouldn't work or play sports on sunday and that the church teaches to keep the sabbath day holy. however, unlike at BYU, the LDS church allows it's members to make that decision for themselves rather than the institution make the decision for them.

those who play sports on sunday can still hold a temple recommend and worship as a faithful LDS member in the highest ordinances and holiest places we have as a church. ironically, if they demand to play sports on sunday, there is not room at BYU for you.

i will grant you there are a few scattered general conference talks (elder cook is most recent i can think...april 2015 or oct 2014) who suggest that playing/watching sports on sunday is not ideal sabbath worship. but the LDS chruch has no official stance on the matter. i wish BYU would follow suit.

if it matters at all, i do not play sports, work or watch tv on sunday. but i don't fault those who do. if i had a chance to play basketball at BYU i wouldn't have minded doing so a few times a year. i did play a few times on club ball in high school...other times i opted out. lots of grey area here.
