Someone made an offhand comment that mentioned a few occupations that were unique and distinct from other occupations because of their most basic necessity in society (they didn't make up a comprehensive list). Most people can distinguish that need from the individual who chooses to make a few million a year (or a mere few hundred thousand a year, in some cases) to "feed and provide for their families".
Despite this absurdity, I'm not one who thinks it would necessarily be unwise for an individual to weigh the pros and cons of the matter and make a decision to take a pro contract. It would be hard to pass up, and perhaps foolish to pass up in some cases.
I don't understand how you could possibly be this upset about a church sponsored school drawing a hard line about not holding commercial sporting events on the Sabbath though. There is a vast difference in scale between that and all of the other things you have brought up, such as airing a TV show on Sunday.
