i understand the general doctrine to not work on sunday. i'm talking about
this imaginary list of jobs where it's "ok to work on sunday" and others where it's not. it doesn't exist.

mormon culture has established that "cops, doctors, fireman" are ok but everyone draws their own line somewhere and it has no place in actual LDS doctrine.

what about an attorney that works at a big firm that requires so many billable hours he has to work on sunday at least once a month? what about a news reporter that, obviously, has to work on sunday? etc, etc, etc. are these jobs any less "noble" or "necessary"? they are NECESSARY for those families who depend on the income to survive.

i personally left a big firm and went solo to avoid (among many other things) working on sunday. but i would never fault or counsel anyone to leave a job just to avoid working on sunday. it's a very personal decision. i have faith the Lord would bless them but they also must provide.

i also don't think Jimmer's or Steve Young's efforts to provide on sunday are any less "necessary" or "worthy" than a doctor or police officer. each is fulfilling his "divine role" as "provider" for his family. (see proclamation)
