I don't think we have any good sense of how many false rape reports happen in a given year. Maybe its exaggerated. Maybe it's not. I can't know without knowing the "true" number, and that number is impossible to know. But the incentive to exaggerate does exist. That's all I was trying to explain.

Really, I think the only honest way to talk about false allegations is say that there almost certainly are some, that we really don't know how many, but that any number based on the lack of a criminal conviction is likely way too high (b/c the failure to convict does not mean the allegation was false).
