Most of the time its not a problem at all because most people have common sense.
However, the church has to write policy for those that don't. We had one parent contact the mission office and basically say "I'm a convert, never got to be a missionary. I wan't to come to [third world Latin American country] and work as a missionary with my son for 2 weeks when he finishes his mission." The office said that would be awesome and they wished they could let him do that, but unfortunately they couldn't for a number of reasons. He got angry, and reached out to a member of the seventy that he knew and proceeded to ram the whole scheme down our mission's throat. So we had to do multiple special changes to that this moron could come down for two weeks. It disrupted everything. They did no missionary work, they just had BBQ's with the members and hosted feasts at the branch's chapel.

This debacle surprised no one in the office because the Elder had often caused problems. Like father like son I guess. Careless, entitled people.
