My parents came to the Philippines
My parents and sister came to the Philippines to pick me up, and my father was my final companion. He and my mother had just returned from their own proselytizing mission 2 weeks prior, and then he was allowed to be my companion for the 2 weeks we toured. We still got up at 6 for united prayer, and followed the rules for the most part. It was a very special thing to be able to introduce my parents to some of the most incredible people that I will ever meds, and allow them to see just how humble their living circumstances are despite their awesome attitudes. It was an experience that I wouldn't trade for the world, especially sitting in the celestial room of the Manilla temple, and sharing a closing prayer to my mission with them.
It is a personal decision, but one that I would highly recommend if you are able to respect that they are still wearing the balck badge. My parents had extreme culture shock at first, despite coming from the inner city ghetto of a very large city, but they left better people from being there.
