Do me a favor and look up the average star ratings of the Stanford starters from the 2011-2014 teams. I'm not willing to do the work right now, but for those of you who are, you will find a ton of 2-3 star guys. Dudes that were recruited based off of athletic measurable and then developed into 4/5 star talents. And now those guys are all over the NFL. Boise State is another equally good example during their crazy Peterson span from 05- roughly 14. Those teams were full of 2/3 star athletes that were developed in to freaks and then many of them were drafted. Point is, if you can't consistently recruit 4/5 star guys, it's a great idea to bring in guys who are physically talented, with the plan to develop them mentally and fundamentally.
We can all wish for the improbable(a team full of 4/5 star guys), but the reality is that the staff is going to have to better follow the Boise State/early Stanford model if we are to work our way back in to a consistent top 25 caliber team.
