You've got a serious comprehension problem....
Every team has "depth" they've all got over a hundred players which means they have "depth". What you want is quality "depth" or in other words players that can actually contribute that aren't starters but are good enough to come in and play with a minimal drop off in results.

Well in order to get that BYU needs to get better top end talent because a large portion of what they've had the last five years would make for great "depth" but weren't quite good enough as their top end talent. Get more top end talent and then the existing guys become that "depth" and then BYU becomes a much better team.

Sure "depth always matters" but by definition "depth" is constituted by your second team, or even third team, and how good they are. Get better quality at the top and then those 3 star guys, or 2 stars with athletic ability, become your depth instead of your starters. Pretty easy concept to understand.

Instead of just arguing for the sake of arguing, and throwing out little digs, maybe you ought to try thinking things out just a bit, you know enact some comprehension skills, then comment.
