not putting their best foot forward. In the MWC you could win your home games and steal a couple on the road and count on making the tourney.
The WCC has 3 or 4 teams. They are your only chance of building a resume. But lose a road game against anyone else and you're toast. Nobody to blame but BYU for losing those, but in the MWC a middle of the conference road loss or two wasn't the death of tourney hopes.
