Lots of football teams struggle. Every year only a handful get to play in meaningful bowl games. Everyone is playing for
that shot.
What happens when players dont want to transfer or commit to BYU because we play Wyoming every year? What happens if we struggle as a G5 school? Would that not be worse than struggling as a P5 equivalent?
Boise has those higher recruiting classes in large part because essentially all you need is a pulse to get into the school. BYU wouldnt suddenly do better in recruiting if we went G5. We would if and or when we win as a P5. Until then selling kids on the chance to play big names is better than telling them they have a chance to win a trophy for making colorado state look silly.

If you are looking to kill the program theres not many quicker ways than going G5. Not only will our payout be smaller
