You don't have to get a line pass. And you can just show up with your ROC pass. In fact, that what a majority of the students will do. The ROC Line card procedure was made for all those students who used to camp out for 6 days before the game. For the last few years everyone was just complaining about how long they would have to sit in line for front row seats, and so after a few years, and a few hundred students' feedback, they adjusted the rules to help those who camp out focus in school and work, then go HAM in one day.
Also, event staff and the police don't have to come out and watch us as much, the neighbors are a heck of a lot happier.
So in the end, the students who camp are happier, neighbors are happier, BYU police is happier, Provo City Fire Marshal is happier, Event Staff is happier, and students' parents and employers are happier. And the students who don't camp? They are unaffected by these new rules. After Friday night, everything is the exact same as the previous years.
