Full social doesn't kick in now until 66.
All that hit 65 are eligible for Medicare, but not full time social security. You can take SS at 62, but your monthly $ goes down considerably if you do that as opposed to waiting till 66,67. (Some may not be eligible until 67, depending on their birth date)

Bottom line, if you're healthy you mind as well work until 66/67 or as long as you can. (SS premium payments also go up if you work until you're 70.)

The government loves you if you die before you take Social Security, so sometimes when to take it isn't an easy call.
