You sign your tax return under penalty of perjury. Have you ever made an error
on your return? Math error? Or maybe you forgot $1 of interest you earned on some random credit union account you signed up for to get a car loan?

The maximum penalty for perjury is 5 years in prison. So I assume you quadruple check everything on your return with the understanding you could face five years in prison, right?

Or maybe you think a minor mistake should only have minor consequences. Maybe?
